Storing colloidal silver

Colloidal silver is best stored cool, dark and tightly closed — ideally in its dark glass bottle, away from sunlight and heat. It doesn’t need refrigerating. Kept that way, it stays in good condition for a long time. For external use only.

This guide covers how to store colloidal silver: keeping it cool and dark, whether it needs the fridge, why dark glass, and how long it keeps for.

Colloidal silver doesn’t ask for much, but a little care keeps it at its best for far longer.

Here is how to store it. For the wider picture, see our complete colloidal silver guide.

How do I store colloidal silver?

Keep it cool, dark and tightly closed — a cupboard or drawer, away from sunlight and heat, is ideal.

Leaving it in its dark glass bottle does most of the work. A sunny windowsill is the one place to avoid.

Does colloidal silver need to go in the fridge?

No — it doesn’t need refrigerating.

Room temperature is fine. What matters is keeping it cool, dark and sealed, rather than cold.

UK-made colloidal silver, from £16.95

Most colloidal silver uses water purified once, if at all. We use two stages — reverse osmosis, then distillation — then bottle in dark glass. 10, 100 and 200 ppm, in dropper, spray or 500ml refill.

Why is colloidal silver kept in dark glass?

Because it is sensitive to light, and dark glass keeps the light off.

That helps keep it stable on the shelf. We bottle ours in dark glass, never plastic, for exactly this reason — see glass vs plastic.

How long does colloidal silver keep?

Stored well, it keeps for a long time — light, heat and contamination are what shorten it, not age alone.

If it changes colour, clouds or develops anything floating in it, it is best to replace it. The same rules apply to other natural products you store.

How do I keep colloidal silver at its best?

A few simple habits keep it in good condition.

  • Keep the lid closed — less air and light reaches the contents.
  • Avoid contamination — don’t touch the bottle’s opening to skin or surfaces.
  • Out of direct sun — a cupboard beats a windowsill.
  • Somewhere cool — away from radiators and heat.

It is, as always, sold for external use only. You can see the full range in the shop.

Why buy from Health is a Choice

We make our colloidal silver in the UK, the way we would want it for our own family. We don’t purify our water once — we do it twice.

It is first cleaned by reverse osmosis, then distilled on top of that, before we suspend real silver in it and bottle it in dark glass — never plastic.
