What is colloidal silver?
Colloidal silver is a suspension of tiny particles of pure silver in purified water — nothing else. The word “colloidal” just means the particles are small enough to stay evenly dispersed. We make ours in the UK and sell it for external use only.
This guide covers what colloidal silver is, what colloidal actually means, what it is made of, how we make ours, and whether it counts as a medicine.
Colloidal silver is one of those products plenty of people have heard of without quite knowing what it is.
This is the plain-English version — no hype, no claims. For the fuller picture, see our complete colloidal silver guide.

Double-purified water — reverse osmosis, then distilled — with real silver. Made in the UK.
What is colloidal silver?
Colloidal silver is tiny particles of pure silver suspended in purified water — nothing else.
That is the whole recipe: silver and water. The silver used is the same metal you find in jewellery and silverware.
What does “colloidal” actually mean?
A colloid is a mixture where very small particles are spread evenly through another substance and stay there, rather than sinking or floating out.
In colloidal silver, the silver particles are small enough to stay dispersed throughout the water. So the name simply describes the form it takes.
What is colloidal silver made of?
Just two things: silver and purified water, with nothing else added.
Some products add stabilisers or proteins. Ours doesn’t — and the water itself is purified twice before any silver goes in.
How is our colloidal silver made?
Most colloidal silver is made with water purified once, if at all. We use two stages before suspending real silver in it.
- Reverse osmosis — forces the water through an ultra-fine membrane to strain out dissolved minerals and impurities.
- Distillation — boils what is left to vapour and re-condenses it, so only the cleanest water carries through.
- Dark glass — we bottle in dark glass, never plastic, to keep light off the contents.
There is more in how colloidal silver is made, and you can see the full range in the shop.
Is colloidal silver a medicine?
No. We sell ours for external use only and make no medical claims for it.
It is not a medicine, and nothing here is medical advice. If you have a health concern, please speak to your GP or pharmacist.

Why buy from Health is a Choice
We make our colloidal silver in the UK, the way we would want it for our own family. We don’t purify our water once — we do it twice.
It is first cleaned by reverse osmosis, then distilled on top of that, before we suspend real silver in it and bottle it in dark glass — never plastic.
